October 2017 saw our trustee Hannah Lappin, along with Rebekah Moffat, host a pamper and shop evening at Buckskin Evangelical church, Basingstoke. The evening saw small business owners from the surrounding areas come together under one roof and sell their product or service whilst donating to Sporting Footprints and providing some great raffle prizes. There were craft stalls, clothing ranges, woodwork, artwork, jewellery, sweets, massages and beauty treatments and toy stalls to name just a few.
The evening raised a fantastic £1,252 and hopefully is even more successful this year when Hannah hosts it again on the 13th October from 19.00-22.00 at Buckskin evangelical church once more. Special thanks to the church for the continued support.
Hope to see lots of you there!
On Sunday 16th July 2017, Matt Hart raised £1500 by completing the incredibly tough Ironman Triathlon. Swimming 2.4 miles, Cycling 112 miles and then running a 26.2 mile marathon, Matt truly did work so hard for every penny raised. With a time of 14 hours and 32 minutes, it truly was an epic achievement and for that we salute you!
Sunday August 28th 2016 saw the return of our family fun day held at The Bluebells holiday home in North Waltham, Hants. Over £1400 was raised through ticket sales, raffle ticket sales and donations on the day. Thank you to everyone that attended and also to our brilliant volunteers for making the day such a success. With some of the money raised, we have already been lucky enough to donate some equipment, for use in the swimming pool at The Bluebells, including floatation supports, life jackets and inflatable toys. The money raised, really makes a difference to the lives of children with illness and disability.
On June 11th 2016, our team of four fundraisers, took part in the ‘Yorkshire three peaks’ challenge and raised over £1200 in the process. The challenge was to climb the peaks of Whernside, Inglebrough and Pen y Gent and walk all the miles in between. In total our team walked 25 miles in a time of 11 1/12 hours and all put in a fantastic effort in spite of blisters, aches and pains. A great day was had by all and our team was well supported all day by a great crew that kept them fed and watered and cheered them over the finish line. Some of the funds raised have already been used to fund neck supports for 2 year old twins with lung conditions which that means they can still enjoy swimming whilst being kept stable in the water.
To all those that sponsored our team, your money truly makes a difference. Thank you.
On 13th June 2015 our team took part in one of our more ambitious challenges to date. Matt Hart, Chris Killen, Paul Goulding, Jamie Townson, Cliff Gideon, Duncan Shorthouse, Pete Townson, Nick White and Tony Hart had to work hard for this challenge. It started with a 3 hour hike, followed by a row across Coniston water with the small matter of a hilly 50 mile bike ride to finish. A fantastic £3,365 was raised and everyone that took part put in a great effort to complete the challenge.
This challenge began in Morecambe, Lancs and finished in Bridlington, Yorks, travelling along the beautiful ‘way of the roses’ route. Tom Goddard, Rory Cosgrave, Matt Hart and Tony Hart cycled 170 miles over 2 days in bright sunshine and warm temperatures making it a really enjoyable yet tough challenge. Over £1500 was raised and some of the money was used to fund remembrance boxes and memory books for bereaved families to keep precious memories of their children in.
